Fourth Pole For Hornaday
Written by Lindsey Marks
Saturday, 18 July 2009 17:04

ron-hornadayAfter two weekends off, Ron Hornaday is ready to go for three wins in a row. He won at the Milwaukee Mile and Memphis at the end of last month. Now that the Truck Series is back at the track, he has topped the qualifying charts for his fourth pole this year.

With a time of 31.145 seconds and a speed of 173.383mph, Hornaday took the pole with Brian Scott taking the outside pole.

Hornaday’s teammate at Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), Ricky Carmichael, managed a qualifying lap good enough for the third place starting position.

“This series is so competitive,” Carmichael said prior to the race weekend. “I have learned a lot about the trucks and how they work compared to the Camping World East cars and ARCA cars that I have had experience with.  I continue to try to learn from Ron [Hornaday], my teammate, who has a bunch of experience.”

Hornaday has raced his way to Victory Lane at Kentucky before so his knowledge could certainly be helpful for Carmichael as well.

“Kentucky is another one of those 1.5-mile tracks and with the way our program has been this year, we have a chance to be really good there,” Hornaday said. “It is a fast race track with two racing grooves. We won this race in 2006 and I would like to win there again, especially since nobody else has won there twice.”

A second win at Kentucky today would also mean three wins in a row for Hornaday this season.
