With the race weekend at O'Reilly Raceway Park officially kicked off, Aric Almirola took command of the opening practice for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Driving the No. 15 Billy Ballew Toyota this weekend, Almirola circled the .686 mile oval in 22.848 seconds with a top speed of 108.088 miles per hour. Jason White followed Almirola on the speed charts with a fast lap of 22.920 seconds. White's second place effort was coupled by a top speed of 107.749 miles per hour.
Following in third, Matt Crafton made the trip around O'Reilly in 22.944 seconds at a peak speed of 107.636 miles per hour. Sitting at second in the point standings without a win, Crafton hopes to improve from his solid fourth place effort last year to collect the trophy for the first time in 2009. The top-5 was summed up by Mike Skinner and Todd Bodine. 
Colin Braun finished the session in sixth. Looking for a record breaking fourth straight win this weekend, Ron Hornaday Jr. launched his weekend with a seventh place effort in the first practice session.
