Do you think NASCAR should penalize Kyle Busch or Brad Keselowski for their incident in the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway?

Peters Gets First Career Pole
Written by Lindsey Marks
Saturday, 01 August 2009 15:53

timothy-petersTimothy Peters grabbed the top Camping World Truck Series qualifying spot from Colin Braun at Nashville Superspeedway. Braun took the top spot from Todd Bodine very early in the qualifying session and held on to it until Peters run with less than 20 trucks left to qualify.

Peters was 8th in the first practice session yesterday and moved up to 4th in Happy Hour. Braun practiced better than Peters in both sessions; he was 5th in the first session and he topped the charts in Happy Hour. Braun was certainly aiming for the pole during qualifying.

“I enjoy racing at Nashville,” Braun said. “The intermediate tracks are always best for us so we are expecting at good run at Nashville. Racing on the concrete is a lot of fun too.

Meanwhile, current points leader Ron Hornaday will start 4th in tonight’s race. After making history with a series best fourth victory in a row last weekend at O’Reilly Raceway Park, Hornaday is looking to shatter the record book with a fifth consecutive victory. The only downside to that plan is the fact that he has never taken the checkers at Nashville.

“I've been so close to winning at Nashville," Hornaday said. "In 2007, we had the thing won but ended up missing it by just a little and finished second.”

The win would be extra special to Hornaday because of the special trophies at Nashville.

“I went by (artist) Sam Bass's studio a few weeks ago to sign some prints for Longhorn, and he showed me his guitar collection,” Hornaday said. “It was very impressive and I told him that I really wanted to win one of his specially- designed guitars.”

The Gibson guitar trophy is certainly on the minds of all the drivers in tonight’s event. Hopefully who ever wins it will cherish it enough to keep it intact.

The Camping World Truck Series Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville Superspeedway will air tonight at 7:30 pm ET on Speed.
