20-year-old Tayler Malsam has made a name for himself after running in his first full season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
The young driver from Seattle ended the season 12th in the series point standings and 2nd to Johnny Sauter in the Rookie of the Year competition. He earned one top-5 finish and 10 top-10 finishes this year in the 25 race season for a finishing average of 14.5. In 2008, Malsam made two starts in the Truck Series. His first in the No. 41 Dodge at Bristol Motor Speedway where he was involved in an accident and finished 36th, and the second at the season ending event in Miami where he ended up 21st in the No. 24 Toyota for Bill Davis Racing.
This year, Malsam signed on to run the No. 81 Toyota Tundra for Randy Moss Motorsports. The team, co-owned by David Dollar and legendary NFL Wide Receiver Randy Moss, was started in July 2008 and the 2009 season was its first full season of competition. Malsam’s teammate at Randy Moss Motorsports is Truck Series veteran Mike Skinner who ended the season 3rd in points. The combination of Skinner’s experience and Malsam’s young, developing abilities led the team to a very successful first year. With such an impressive record so far, Malsam appears to have a long, successful career ahead of him in NASCAR. MORE NASCAR NEWS
