daisy-ramirezWith speed weeks coming up quickly at the famous Daytona International Speedway, teams are scurrying to prepare and make final arrangements. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has a new competitor and a first for NASCAR. Daisy Ramirez, who is the Chief Operating officer of BeBevCo and CEO and founder of Potencia Energy Drink, will be the first Hispanic female NASCAR Truck team owner.

The team will operate under the name of Daisy Ramirez Motorsports out of the shop that used to house the Sprint Cup Team of Coors Light and Team Sabco. DRM purchased the remaining truck chassis from Key Motorsports on Monday January 25. This effectively ends the Key Motorsports truck program in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series which started in 2004. DRM will be running Chevrolets with engines coming from Earnhardt-Childress Engines and also Jay Robinson Racing.

Brain Weber, the General Manager for Daisey Ramirez Motorsports, told HardcoreRaceFans.com that the team plans to run two trucks with the primary truck being the No. 01. The No. 01 will have a primary driver for Daytona and Atlanta, and a secondary driver for the remaining of the season. The second truck will have the No. 00 and is scheduled to race the first five races. More announcements on the No. 00 truck coming Monday, February first.

Also announced that 20 year veteran of the sport Dan Glauz, will be the crew chief for the DRM truck. Glauz has held many crew chief and car chief positions for notable drivers and owners such as Jimmy Spencer, Richard Childress, Mike Skinner, and Chad McCumbee. He also worked in the NASCAR R&D center and recently won the 2008 USAR Racing Series championship with Benny Gordon.

Daisy Ramirez Motorsports will make their 2010 debut coming the February 12th NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway. The truck No. 01 will be sponsored by the BeBevCo brand, KOMA UNWIND “Chillaxation Drink”.

HardcoreRaceFans.com will be on hand tomorrow for the announcement of the driver for the No. 01 truck.
