Sadler Looking To Win Daytona Truck Race

elliott-sadlerNASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Elliott Sadler will revisit the NASCAR Truck Series for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at the Daytona International Speedway this Friday night. The likeable Virginian will be behind the wheel of the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado for the first of eight races Sadler is slated to drive for KHI, Inc. in 2010.

 

Sadler has made 22 Sprint Cup starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway with a best finish of second in the 2002 Daytona 500. He has three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Daytona, scoring a pole in 1998. Sadler came close to winning the 2009 Daytona 500 and has added the truck race to his busy schedule in hopes of picking up his first Daytona victory.

 

Friday night's truck race will be Sadler's first NASCAR Truck Series start in almost seven years, his last coming at Martinsville in 2003.

 

"When you look back at Daytona Speedweeks the truck races have had some of the most exciting finishes," Sadler said recently. "I haven't drafted in a truck before and I'm sure it'll be a little unique so I'll spend practice and the first half of the race figuring out what it'll take to be in the front when it gets near the end of the race. I've definitely had a lot of success on the restrictor-plate tracks and hopefully I'll be able to have a strong run at Daytona. It'll be interesting to see how everything plays out at the end of the race. The trucks tend to come down to the last 50 feet of the race before you know who is going to be able to pull off the win."
