White Wrangles Truck Series Pole

jason-whiteJason White, in the No. 23 GunBroker.com Ford F150, took the top qualifying spot for Friday night’s NextEra Energy Resources 250. With a fast lap of 50.597 seconds at 177.525 mph, White was just over one tenth of a second faster than NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Elliott Sadler who qualified 2nd.

 

Truck Series rookie Austin Dillon qualified 3rd in the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Silverado followed by Ricky Carmichael in 4th and four-time and defending series champion Ron Hornaday in 5th.

 

Tayler Malsam was the highest qualifier for new Truck team Kyle Busch Motorsports. He wound up in the 6th place position with his boss, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch, qualifying 16th.

 

2008 Series champion Johnny Benson returned to the track for the first time since he was ousted from his ride at the beginning of last summer. Benson also sustained serious injuries due to a Supermodified wreck shortly after losing his truck ride.kyle-busch

 

Former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet ended up qualifying 22nd in his No. 1 Red Horse Racing Toyota and NASCAR veteran J.J. Yeley ran a lap good enough for 33rd in the Koma Unwind Chillazation Drink Chevrolet from the newly formed Daisy Ramirez Motorsports shop.

 

The NextEra Energy Resources 250 is scheduled to air on SPEED Friday night at 8pm ET.
