Justin Marks won the first ARCA race of his career Saturday afternoon at the 2.034 Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida when he took the checkered flag in the Tire Kingdom 150 presented by ModSpace. Marks won the rain- shortened event using rain tires developed by Hoosier Racing Tires. It was the first time in ARCA's 58 year history they have used a wet tire compound.
"It was a great race - a great win for me...for Win-Tron, for Construct Corps," a rain drenched Marks said in Victory Lane. "It was the perfect rain conditions to run a rain race. The track was just wet enough to slide around, get on rain tires and find that line, but it never rained too hard, except for the last three laps when it just poured, and we could barely see."
Marks led the race twice, the first time from laps 41 through 56, giving the lead to Robb Brent when he made his pit stop. Marks took the lead again on lap 59 when Brent pitted. The downpour came on lap 68, bringing out the final caution of the day with the yellow and checkers being displayed together on lap 70, ending the race five laps short of the advertised distance. "It feels great to win for my sponsor, Construct Corp," Marks said. "I ran my first ARCA race in 2005, so it's been a long time coming. I have had a lot of help along the way in the ARCA series, in RAB Racing, Jeff Buice at Shaver Motorsports, Germain, Venturini - I have raced for a lot of different teams, and they all have played a part. They have all helped me. To be able to take everything I learned and apply it to what I feel is the best team out here, Win-Tron Racing, and really go for a championship, this is sort of vindication. It lets us all know that we have a winning combination, and we can really contend for the championship." Marks said his car handled well using the new Hoosier rain tires. "It was awesome - great rain tire," explained Marks. "Hoosier has always built a good rain tire. This tire was very consistent. It had great grip. What is great about it is that when you have Hoosier rain tires, you worry about driving the car, finding grip on the racetrack and having good rain racetrack, you never worry about the tire. You never have to worry about driving around on an ill-handling tire. It's just consistent and you know it's going to be there for you." Robb Brent finished second and rookie Blake Koch, making his first ever ARCA start, finished third. MORE NASCAR NEWS
