Ron HornadayThe City of Palmdale, California is honoring native son Ron Hornaday in a ceremony today at 1:00 pm PST, naming all access roads to the Antelope Valley Auto Center "Ron Hornaday Way" as well as recognizing Thursday April 8 as Ron Hornaday Day. The four-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion will be presented a key to the city during the event.

"I'm pretty excited about the whole deal," said Hornaday. "I always love going back home and to have five entrances named after you is really an honor.  I know there are quite a few people who have been trying to make this happen for a few years now so I just want to thank all of them.  I've made a great living as a race car driver and I owe a lot to Palmdale and the people there. Palmdale is where I met my wife and we had our kids, so it will always be home to Lindy and me.  I was just fortunate to get the call from Dale [Earnhardt] in 1995 and have the opportunity to move east. I have been very lucky to work for a lot of great people in this industry and had the privilege of helping some fellow Californian's out.  It's really cool that Kevin [Harvick] is from right down the road in Bakersfield and that now were an entire West Coast family at KHI on the East Coast."

Fellow Californian, friend and car owner Harvick shared his sentiments on this very special occasion.

"Ron has had the opportunity to do a lot of things in his life," said Harvick.  "He has raced with some of the greatest drivers, won championships and had a lot of fun along the way.  I'm really proud of Ron for his accomplishments and grateful for his friendship.  I'm glad that Palmdale is honoring him in such a fitting way.  He made lots of trips in and out of the Auto Center and now everyone will remember him for years to come. It is a good way for Ron to leave a legacy in Palmdale."

Today's ceremony is open to the public.
