The monkey is gone.
Kyle Busch and his team have been plagued with bad luck over the past few weeks. Busch has led the most laps for the last six races in a row but only has one win in that time period, until now. After dominating the NASCAR Nationwide Series Federated Auto Parts 300 in Nashville, Busch was finally able to pull off the win making him the 5th driver to win on all three concrete race tracks.
“What an awesome race car. What an awesome group,” Busch said in Victory Lane after a fiery burnout. “I owe it all to them… Great to come back here and get this monkey off our back… It’s just been a hard couple weeks.” The Nashville trophy was a Gibson guitar painted by NASCAR artist Sam Bass. Busch did not enjoy his new guitar for long. As soon as he had it in his hands he walked to the other side of the race car and smashed it on the ground. He wanted to share a piece of it with each of his team members who helped him get back to Victory Lane. Brad Keselowski was once again on Busch’s heels at the end of the race but could not get to the lead. He crossed the stripe in second place. “(We) ran up front, put ourselves in position like we did at Dover but didn’t catch a break like we did at Dover,” Keselowski said.
Brendan Gaughn and Marc Davis finished 24th and 25th after a bizarre pit road incident. Davis and Gaughn were both coming down pit road but Davis was headed to the garage. When he turned left to go behind the wall, Gaughn t-boned him while trying to get to his pit stall for a green flag stop. Gaughn was very vocal about his thoughts on the incident both on the radio immediately after as well as during his post-race interview. Carl Edwards finished third with Mike Bliss and Jason Leffler finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Stephen Leicht, Steve Wallace, Michael McDowell, Erik Darnell and Brad Coleman rounded out the top-10. MORE NASCAR NEWS
