Joey Logano crossed the finish line ahead of Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch in Saturday night's Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway to win his second NASCAR Nationwide Series race of the 2009 season. The 19 year old driver leaves Kentucky with a perfect record, having won two poles and two races in as many outings at the pristine speedway located in Sparta, Kentucky.
"This is so cool for the whole GameStop Toyota team," Logano said after the race. "They did a great job and gave me an awesome car at a place that kind of suits me. I could get both of them done. This is cool, two for two at Kentucky - two poles and two wins. That's the perfect record here and hopefully we'll keep that going."
Kyle Busch dominated the 300 hundred mile race leading 162 of the 200 laps. Logano led 20 laps of the event, including the last 10. "It always happens that way, we always lose at the end," Kyle Busch said. "I have to thank NOS and Z-Line and everybody at Toyota. These guys on this team do a great job. Another one-two finish, Joey (Logano) is just better than we are at these places. Congratulations to him, he learned obviously how to save his stuff and kind of snooker people in to not adjusting on their race cars. Our fault, we didn?t have a good enough race car today. I told everybody I'd come here and finish second today anyways. Can't complain much. It would be nice to get 12 wins." Kyle Busch stretched his Nascar Nationwide Series points lead over Carl Edwards to 137 points after Saturday night's race. Edwards experienced many problems during the race, including two penalties for speeding on pit road and finished 20th.
The NASCAR Nationwide Series next stop will be the Milwaukee Mile in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Camping World RV Rental 250 next Saturday, June 20, 2009. MORE NASCAR NEWS
