After spending a weekend with the big boys in Michigan, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is heading out to the Milwaukee Mile to spend the weekend with the Nationwide Series. Three drivers will be doing the double this weekend, running both the Milwaukee 200 Truck Series race and the Milwaukee 250 Nationwide race.
Former Cup Series regular Aric Almirola will be one of the three pulling double duty this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile. Returning to the site of his much controversial “win” the 25-year-old will be piloting a Key Motorsports ride. With Scott Wimmer taking over the No. 5 JR Motorsports car for the weekend, Almirola has agreed to step in and drive the No. 40 StopRepairBills.com Chevrolet.
In addition to trying to get the job done on the Nationwide side, Almirola will also climb in the cockpit of the No. 15 Billy Ballew-owned Toyota during Friday night’s Camping World Truck Series race. With Kyle Busch taking the weekend off on the Truck side of things, Brian Ickler will jump over to the No. 51 and Almirola will take over the No. 15. Almirola has driven one race for Ballew already this year, finishing sixteenth at Texas. Two other drivers that will be attempting to pull off the double-duty will be Dennis Setzer and Terry Cook. Both Truck Series regulars are locked in the show on Friday night, but will need to qualify their way into Saturday’s race. Setzer will be looking to make his seventh Nationwide Series start of the season for team owner Dusty Whitney. The No. 96 Dodge has five DNFs in six starts, with their best finish coming at Nashville in April.
On the Truck side of things, Setzer has done much better. Driving for team owner Dave Malcolmson, the N.C.-native has one top-5 and four top-10s in nine starts. His best finish was a second in Dover to race winner Brian Scott. Ohio-native Terry Cook will be back behind the wheel of the No. 90 MSRP Motorsports Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series this weekend. A consistent start-and-park car, Cook will attempt to make the show and subsequently park the ride only a handful of laps into the event – in ten starts this year, Cook has ten DNFs running a total of 151 laps. Cook has been much more competitive in the Camping World Truck Series this year, recording three top-5s and five top-10s. Piloting the No. 25 HT Motorsports Toyota, Cook started the year off well with a third-place finish and has one top-5 and three top-10s in the last four races.
While there will be no Cup Series regular pulling double duty this weekend in Milwaukee (running both the Truck and Nationwide events), these three will have a busy weekend ahead of them. MORE NASCAR NEWS
