MacDonald Motorsports announced that the organization has called upon ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra to drive the No. 81 Dodge Charger in this weekend’s Subway Jalapeno 250 at Daytona International Speedway with sponsorship provided by D.H. Griffin-Quality Turf-Buffalo Wings & Rings.
This Friday’s race will mark Sheltra’s third start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and his first at Daytona since his terrifying wreck in the ARCA RE/MAX Series kick-off which almost concluded his racing career. “I would like to thank MacDonald Motorsports for this opportunity,” Sheltra commented. “I wasn’t planning on running this race but all the components glued together and now we can focus on having a good race.” The Indiantown, Florida native made his debut in NASCAR’s second level series in last fall’s race at Phoenix International Raceway logging a 29th place finish for the No. 4 Jay Robinson Racing entry. Sheltra followed his performance at Phoenix with a 24th place outing in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Six members of Sheltra’s team in the ARCA division will fly from a test at Iowa Speedway, to assist MacDonald Motorsports in this weekend’s event at the “World Center of Racing”. “I’ve run up front at Daytona before and that’s my plan again. MacDonald Motorsports has shown that they have a very impressive plate program so I’m looking forward to taking them to the front and putting us in contention on Friday night,” said Sheltra. “The biggest objective is keeping ourselves out of trouble and being at the right place at the right time when it’s go time. I have all the confidence in the world that we are capable of turning some heads this weekend.” MORE NASCAR NEWS
