Kahne Ready For First 2009 NNS Start
Written by Brandon Hensley

kasey-kahneThis weekend Kasey Kahne will make his first of four starts in the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series Season. Braun Racing will field the No. 10 McDonald’s McCafe Toyota Camry for Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM).

Last weekend RPM driver Elliott Sadler drove the No. 10 Toyota to an 18th place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“I’m pretty excited about this,” Kahne stated. ”Braun Racing builds some pretty fast race cars and I’ve always enjoyed racing in this series.”

In 151 races in the Nationwide Series, Kahne has amassed seven wins, 26 top-5’s and seven poles. Looking to get back into Victory Lane in NASCAR’s second level series, Kahne plans on going extra hard to reach his goal.

“I don’t know how much strategy there will be Friday night,” said Kahne. “It’s not a long race so you pretty much have to race as hard as you can and avoid all of the trouble. The summer races in Daytona are usually about handling. If you can make your car handle throughout the run, you’ll be ok.”

Kahne’s remaining three races will be ran at Bristol Motor Speedway (August 21), Atlanta Motor Speedway (September 5) and Lowe’s Motor Speedway (October 16).

“Last year was the first time we didn’t visit Victory Lane in a Nationwide car, so I want to try and get back to the winners circle,” noted the 29 year old from Enumclaw, Washington. “Richard Petty Motorsports is focused on four cars in the Cup Series, so this deal with Braun Racing made a lot of sense. They’re one of the best stand-alone teams in the series.”
