For the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway on August 1st, Austin Dillon will be showing his school spirit after securing sponsorship from High Point University (HPU).
Dillon will take the wheel of the No. 2 Richard Childress Chevrolet for his school. The up-and-coming HPU Panther is excited to be able to take on the role of a not-so-typical student athlete in the U.S. Cellular 250. "It's really cool to be able to carry the colors of High Point University," said Dillon. "I'm not necessarily a typical 'student-athlete,' but it's an honor to show off my Panther pride this way even before I take my first collegiate class."
HPU vice president of administration, Chris Dudley is proud to be able to support HPU’s soon to be freshman in the race at Iowa. "The High Point University family is extremely proud of Austin and his accomplishments; he is a dedicated and skilled young man," Dudley stated. "It takes an incredible young person to manage the demands of racing and the rigorous academic schedule at HPU. We support him in this endeavor, and we look forward to welcoming him to HPU this fall."
With five visits at Iowa Speedway, Dillon feels that he knows his way around the track and will be able to attain a strong result to kick off the eighth month of the year. "Iowa is a really fun place to race at.” Dillon continued, "This will be the fifth time I've raced there and that experience has built my confidence in understanding my way around the track. I'll apply what I've learned so far to this race and, hopefully, we'll have a solid run." MORE NASCAR NEWS
