Trevor Bayne Gets First Nationwide Pole

trevor-bayneIn his seventh start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Trevor Bayne took the No. 99 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota around O'Reilly Raceway Park in 22.30 seconds and a maximum speed of 110.764 miles per hour.

 

Bayne's lap was good enough to earn the young driver his first pole start in the series. In prime position to earn his first victory in NASCAR's secondary series, Bayne should prove a force to be reckoned with.

 

After earning the pole for last weekend's event, Brad Coleman followed his qualifying performance with a second place effort at the .686-mile short track. Circling O'Reilly Raceway Park in 22.33 seconds with a peak speed of 110.601 miles per hour, Coleman is hot on the pursuit for his first win of the season.

 

steve-wallaceSteve Wallace earned the third spot with a lap of 22.44 seconds and a top speed of 110.029 miles per hour. Erik Darnell and Terry Cook finished off the top-5 starters.

 

Scott Lagasse Jr. will start sixth, and Brad Keselowski will begin the race in seventh.

 

Last nights winner in the Truck Series race Ron Hornaday will look to sweep the events at O'Reilly from the eighth position.

 

Terry Cook and Brendan Gaughan concluded the top-10 of the starting grid.
