john-wes-townleyMark Norman, a crew member on the NASCAR Nationwide Series No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford Fusion from the RAB Racing stables, was indefinitely suspended yesterday after violating NASCAR’s substance abuse policy.

The violation was discovered on August 21st.

“RAB Racing stringently adheres to a zero tolerance policy concerning drug abuse,” team Co-Owner/General Manager Robert A. Benton said, according to PaddockTalk.com. “The licensee in question has been released and replaced moving forward for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy and our company stands behind the actions taken by NASCAR in regards to this matter. Obviously, it is a very unfortunate situation for all parties involved, but we strongly support NASCAR’s continued efforts to promote a safe work environment.”
