HYPE Energy Drinks will be the primary sponsor this weekend for Germain Racing’s No. 15 Toyota Camry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Montreal.

HYPE, which has a strong presence in Montreal, became interested in a sponsorship deal because the company’s CEO, Bertrand Gachot, is a former Formula One driver and Le Mans winner. Now that he is promoting the beverage, he has incorporated his love for racing into the business plan.

“All of us at HYPE couldn’t be more proud of Michael Annett and Germain Racing this season,” Gachot said. “Michael’s great performance for a rookie driver has really energized all of our sales and distribution networks. We are looking forward to seeing the No. 15 HYPE Energy Drinks car on the track this weekend and hope for great success for the Montreal race.”michael-annett

Rookie driver Michael Annett will be starting his second career road course race during the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and his first NASCAR event in Canada. However, he is no stranger to our northern neighbor. Annett used to play AAA hockey for Team Illinois and he competed in games against Canadian teams, but the partnership with HYPE will allow Annett to see Montreal from another angle.

“I’m really looking forward to traveling to Montreal this week,” he said. “It should be a good experience both on and off the track. It will be great to catch up with the folks from HYPE Energy and get an insiders tour of Montreal from them. Getting back out on a road course should be exciting too. The Watkins Glen race earlier this month was my first road course race and we left with a top-20 finish. My experience learning the course was very positive and productive. I’m eager to get on the Montreal course and continue to improve on my road course skills in the No. 15 HYPE Energy Drinks Toyota Camry.”

Annett and the No. 15 Toyota Camry for Germain Racing is currently sitting 13th in the Nationwide Series point standings.
