Papis Leads First Nationwide Practice

Road racing veteran Max Papis led the first of the two practice sessions scheduled for today at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, as the teams and drivers prepare for Sunday's NAPA 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

 

Papis turned a fast lap of 85.632 mph around the 14 turn, 2.71 mile course to top the 45 drivers who participated in the early session.

Jason Leffler was second quickest, producing a speed of 85.327 on his best lap with Patrick Carpentier, Andrew Ranger and Michael McDowell making up the balance of the top five.

 

Other notables in the first practice include Ron Fellows, eighth on the chart, Jeffrey Earnhardt 10th, Boris Said 15th, Jacques Villeneuve 16th, Marcos Ambrose 34th and Victor Gonzalez, Jr. 36th.

 

The second practice of the day was canceled due to rain and qualifying is currently under rain delay.
