Carl Edwards passed Marcos Ambrose on the last lap using rain tires to win the NAPA 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race this afternoon at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. The crash-marred event saw 11 cautions and was extended two laps to accommodate a green-white-checkered finish.

"He (Ambrose) just made that one mistake, through the curves, and it gave me my chance to get by," Carl Edwards said from Victory Lane. Ambrose hit the rumble strips in turn 14 on the final lap, causing his car to slide sideways and allowing Edwards to get by.

The victory marks the first Nationwide Series win for Roush Fenway Racing on a road course.

Ambrose was very disappointed with a second place finish after leading 60 laps of the 76 lap race.

"I feel pretty devastated," Ambrose said just after climbing from his #47 machine. "I let my boys down, we came here to win."

NASCAR Canadian Tire Series star Andrew Ranger was excited after finishing third.

"I ran with the big boys today and I proved what I can do," Ranger said. "To have a podium finish here in Montreal is fantastic."

Canadian Jacques Villeneuve finished fourth and Brad Keselowski came home fifth.

Jeffrey Earnhardt, making his second appearance in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, finished 31st.

NASCAR Nationwide Series point leader Kyle Busch spun out on the final restart, moving him from the fourth spot to a tenth place finish in the last two laps. Carl Edwards is currently second in the point standings, cutting Busch's lead to 192 points.

The next race of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule is the Degree V12 300 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, Saturday, September 5.
