Bowyer Beats Busch; Hamlin, Keselowski Scuffle
Saturday, 26 September 2009 17:26

clint-bowyerAfter Kyle Busch dominated the NASCAR Nationwide Series Dover 200 and broke the most laps led record for the Series, he fell back at the end of the race and Clint Bowyer took the checkered flag.

Busch still maintains his series points lead by 211 points over Carl Edwards. Bowyer, on the other hand, does not run the Nationwide Series full-time but he will be in the No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevy for the next few weeks.

“Just being in the car for the next few weeks is going to be good,” Bowyer said, from Victory Lane. “Dover, what an awesome race track. I love this place.”

The most interesting event on and of the track involved Cup driver Denny Hamlin and Nationwide regular Brad Keselowski who just recently inked a deal to move up to the Cup Series next year with Penske Racing.brad-keselowski

The two were racing for position near the end of the race and when Keselowski attempted to go to Hamlin’s inside, Hamlin moved down to shut the door and ended up spinning and hitting the inside wall after making contact with Keselowski’s right front.

After the checkered flag flew, the two drivers got into a heated discussion on pit road along with a shove or two before they were separated. Their teams continued to argue for a few moments and then both drivers spoke their minds during their post-race interviews.

“(We) just had an opportunity, he left a hole to pass him,” Keselowski explained. “He just tried to take advantage of me and I’m not going to be pushed around.”

Hamlin saw it a little differently, of course and openly questioned Keselowski’s abilities.

“He’ll get a ride and he’ll hang around for a couple years and then people will realize that he’s not that good,” Hamlin said.

Mike Bliss, in a new ride this week, finished 2nd in the race followed by Keselowski, Busch and Edwards.

Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson, Scott Speed, David Reutimann and Jason Keller rounded out the top-10.

Hamlin wound up a dismal 27th.
