parker-kligermanParker Kligerman, a star in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, has taken the pole for tonight’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery 300 in his No. 22 Penske Dodge.

Kligerman ran a fast lap of 31.25 seconds at 172.778mph to knock series points leader Kyle Busch off of the top spot.

“I’m trembling after that one,” he said after his qualifying run. “That was so fast in three and four… I just went in there and held on. It (the car) was so on the edge.”

Kligerman has shown a lot of promise in his racing career with eight wins in the ARCA RE/MAX Series this year and a pole in his first Nationwide event can only add to that list of accomplishments for the young driver. In fact, he won the ARCA race at Kansas on Thursday.

Busch’s fast lap was 31.31 seconds at 172.485 seconds in his No. 18 NOS Toyota.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase for the Sprint Cup contenders Greg Biffle and Brian Vickers qualified 3rd and, but Biffle crashed on his second lap and will have to move to a backup car before the race. These two were followed by fellow Chaser and Nationwide Series points runner up Carl Edwards.

David Gilliland and Joey Logano will be starting 6th and 7th with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Brian Scott taking the green in 8th in his No. 11 Ridemakerz Toyota.

Michael Annett and Jason Leffler rounded out the top-10 in qualifying.

Jarit Johnson, brother of defending Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, was the last go-or-go-home driver to lock into the field; he will start tonight’s race in 35th position.

51 cars attempted to qualify for the event so a large handful were sent home disappointed including veterans Morgan Shepherd and Derrike Cope.

The Kansas Lottery 300 is scheduled to broadcast on ESPN2 at 3pm ET today.
