Kyle Busch was the dominant car in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kansas Lottery 300 at Kansas Speedway; he led 173 of the 200 laps.
But, it was not enough to take the checkers.
With just over 20 laps to Busch had more than a two second lead on second place Brad Keselowski but a series of cautions ruined that and cost Busch the win. On the final restart Busch in his No. 18 NOS Toyota got out front again but his teammate Joey Logano ran him down and got the win. “(I was) driving my guts out for everything I’m worth,” Logano said of the pass. Less than a week ago in the Sprint Cup Series race Logano flipped and rolled eight times and, as with any bad wreck, there has been a lot of discussion about how shaken up he was afterwards. “I needed a win to stop everyone talking about if I’m going to be alright,” he said in Victory Lane. Obviously, he is more than fine. Keselowski finished third to the Joe Gibbs Racing duo followed by Cup regulars Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle. Nationwide rookie Justin Allgaier finished 6th followed by Carl Edwards, who is second to Busch in the Series point standings. Sprint Cup drivers Scott Speed, Clint Bowyer and Reed Sorenson rounded out the top-10. Race pole sitter Parker Kligerman ended his first Nationwide Series race in 16th place, certainly a successful debut. One week from today the Nationwide Series will be in Fontana for the Copart 300 at Auto Club Speedway. That race is scheduled to broadcast on ESPN2 at 4pm ET. MORE NASCAR NEWS
