Kelly Bires is set to make his final start of the season for Kevin Harvick Inc. this weekend at Memphis Motorsports Park. Bires will drive the No. 33 Copart Chevrolet in the Kroger On Track for the Cure 250. Bires has two top-ten finishes in the car in two previous starts this season, one of which finishing fourth at Nashville marking his career-best finish in NASCAR’s top three series of competition.
“I really don’t approach it with higher expectations, but I feel like we have a definite advantage to be able to use the notes that the truck teams have built and apply it in any way we can to the No. 33 Copart Chevrolet. Ernie (Cope, crew chief) and the guys do an outstanding job with the NNS program, so I expect us to keep the ball rolling for KHI at Memphis.” Bires said when asked about Ron Hornaday winning the last two here in the Truck series for KHI. “Expectations are very high. Kevin, DeLana, and everyone at KHI have given me everything I need to get the job done. We have had two good races already and really look forward to putting everything together and executing on all ends. If we do that, I believe we have a great shot at bringing home a victory,” Said Bires on his expectations for the weekend. Bires will be in chassis No. 042, last on track at Richmond International Raceway where Kevin Harvick finish second after starting 18th. Bires is familiar with the Chassis, it is the same one he lost control of on his qualifying attempt at Kentucky early this season and was forced to go to a back up. Hopefully that won’t happen this weekend. Bires will participate in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Autograph session Friday night, starting at 6:15 and ending 7:15 p.m. EST. The autograph session is open to all ticket holders. MORE NASCAR NEWS
