The NASCAR Foundation is joining forces with Susan G. Komen for the Cure tomorrow at Memphis Motorsports Park for a track walk prior to the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kroger On Track for the Cure 250.
“It’s great to have the opportunity to use the NASCAR platform to put such an important issue in front of our fans,” Jason Rittenberry, Vice President and General Manager of Memphis Motorsports Park, said. “Receiving the support from major sponsors such as Kroger and Genetech, as well as the NASCAR Foundation to create awareness throughout the Mid-South shows a real commitment to this community. And with NASCAR’s fan base being 40 percent female, this is absolutely a relevant audience to drive home the message.” Hardcore race fans and their friends and family who would like to experience the thrill of walking around the racing surface for a great cause can register online prior to the event at ww.NASCAR.com/foundation. The event is scheduled to begin at 11am local time tomorrow and participants who raise a minimum of $30 will receive a commemorative Track Walk “Go Pink or Go Home” t-shirt. Pink NASCAR Foundation lanyards will be available at the track for a $10 donation and half of the proceeds from the lanyards will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. More than 1.3 million women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer each year; it is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and it is the leading cause of death among women worldwide.
