In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Scott Wimmer in his No. 40 StopRepairBills.com Chevrolet out of the Key Motorsports stables will have a special pink paint scheme in tomorrow’s Kroger on Track for the Cure 250.
For Wimmer, the paint scheme is a personal tribute to the women who fight this disease including his mother and sister. “Witnessing the emotional and physical impact of breast cancer on my mother Joan, and sister Shelly, really opened my eyes to create as much awareness around the importance of being informed,” Wimmer said. “I think it’s great that sponsors, owners and drivers have a way to voice what’s important to us as individuals.” Mark Travis and Nick Hamilton, partners in StopRepairBills.com, supported the idea. “We really want to send a message that there is good reason to have yearly check-ups because we have all faced trials; with faith, hope and action these trials can be overcome,” Travis said. “We have employees, family and race team members affiliated with the #40 who have overcome Breast Cancer and other types of cancer.” Wimmer’s car owner, Curtis Key, is also a big supporter of the cause. “The #40 car will carry the Passion for Pink “StopRepairBills.com” paint scheme for Memphis to reinforce the message of getting a free mammogram… it’s simple, easy and free in many markets,” Key said. In addition to the paint scheme, Wimmer and his family will also participate in The NASCAR Foundation Track Walk at Memphis Motorsports Park prior to the race which benefits Susan G. Komen for the Cure. His parents Ron and Joan, wife Jody and son Hayden will also participate in this special event. “We’re looking forward to participating in the walk as a family this Saturday to help support the search for a cure,” Wimmer said.
