denny-hamlinWith multiple NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers pulling double or triple-duty this weekend at Phoenix, qualifying for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Able Body Labor 200 was dominated but the drivers from the top division.

Denny Hamlin was the class of the field with his 26.872 second fast lap at 133.968mph. His No. 20 GameStop Toyota was the only car to break into the 26 second bracket during the qualifying session.

Fellow Chase for the Sprint Cup contender Carl Edwards qualified 2nd for the Nationwide race in his No. 60 Valvoline/O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Ford with a 27.003 second lap at 133.319mph.

Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch, who are both running in all three NASCAR events this weekend, qualified 3rd and 4th for today’s event. Harvick got the win in last night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race and could make NASCAR history if he wins all three events this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. Busch, on the other hand, may clinch the Nationwide Series championship in today’s event if he has at least a 195 point lead over Edwards when the checkered flag flies.

Clint Bowyer rounded out the top-5 in his No. 29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet.

The highest qualifying Nationwide Series regular was Jason Leffler who will start today’s race in 6th in his No. 38 Great Clips Toyota.

Cup regular Paul Menard qualified 7th followed by the only other Nationwide driver Mike Bliss in 8th.

David Ragan and Reed Sorenson, both Sprint Cup drivers, completed the top-10.

Chris Lawson, Blake Koch, Morgan Shepherd and Daryl Harr failed to qualify for the Able Body Labor 200.

The Nationwide Series event is scheduled to begin today at 4pm ET on ESPN2.
