Once a AAA hockey player who earned the “Most Improved Player” award in a season and led the league in penalty minutes, Michael Annett has found his niche in auto racing.
Annett grew up around racing. His family’s business, TMC Transportation, owned and sponsored World of Outlaws star Sammy Swindell for years.
Annett made his racing debut with the family team and then went on to race in the ASA Late Model Series and finished 7th in the championship standings in 2007. He also made his debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series that year with help from a partnership with Country Joe Racing for three races and Bill Davis Racing for one in which Annett made his way to Victory Lane in the first Toyota ever to do so.
In 2008, Annett moved from his hometown in Iowa to North Carolina to further pursue his career behind the wheel. He once again competed in ARCA and made his NASCAR Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series debut. 2009 saw Annett run the full Nationwide Series schedule. He earned four top-10 finishes and ended the season 10th in points. If his momentum keeps up into the 2010 season, Annett will be a force to be reckoned with on the track like he once was on the ice.
