NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and 2009 Nationwide Series champion Kyle Busch made it to Victory Lane at Auto Club Speedway in the Stater Bros. 300.
“That’s awesome. I’m so proud to win one like that,” Busch said over the radio after crossing the finish line. “We haven’t won one like that in a while.” Busch got the win after taking the lead from Greg Biffle, who took it from Busch’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano, after a green-white-checkered restart. Brad Keselowski also got into the mix making it three wide for a minute before dropping back and finishing 3rd behind Busch and Biffle.
“That’s crazy,” Busch exclaimed after climbing from his car in Victory Lane. “Do you believe that? That’s some racing right there.” The victory was the fifth consecutive for JGR at Auto Club and it ties Busch with Jack Ingram on the Nationwide Series all-time wins list.
The rivalry between Biffle and Logano seems to have sparked again when the two had different opinions of what happened on the restart. Logano led the majority of the race and ended up finishing 5th after being ousted from the top spot by Biffle. Carl Edwards ended up 4th. Steve Wallace finished 6th followed by Kelly Bires in his first start for JR Motorsports. Brian Vickers, Justin Allgaier and Brian Scott rounded out the top-10. MORE NASCAR NEWS
