Former open wheel driver Nelson Piquet has signed on to run in “several” ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards races during the 2010 season.
Piquet already ran one race for the team at the season opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway last month. He qualified 7th for the race and finished a disappointing 27th but made up for the rough start with a 6th place finish in his first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event the following weekend.
"I consider this opportunity to work with Eddie Sharp Racing the next phase of my development in stock car racing," Piquet Jr. said. "ESR is the perfect team to work with to learn about the sport because of their championship team and great driver development track record in the ARCA Racing Series." Team owner Eddie Sharp is just as enthusiastic about the partnership. "I am extremely excited to be working with Nelson again," Sharp said. "I am very impressed that he has recognized the value of getting seat time in the ARCA Racing Series." Piquet has confirmed he will race at Texas Motor Speedway in April, Michigan International Speedway in June and Pocono in July. MORE NASCAR NEWS
