"Mr. Showtime" Patrick Sheltra has been named to drive the RAB Racing No. 09 Ford in Saturday's Aaron's 312 NASCAR Nationwide race at Talladega Superspeedway.
“I’ve always had the utmost respect for Robby Benton and his organization in the NASCAR Nationwide Series,” said Sheltra. “I’m honored and humbled at the opportunity to drive for the team at Talladega. Our expectations are high, but there is no doubt that with a little luck we can accomplish our mission.”
Sheltra has made three starts in ARCA competition on the high-banked Alabama tri-oval, scoring a top-5 finish in 2008. While the 23-year-old driver from Indiantown, Florida also has four Nationwide starts on his resume, Saturday's Aaron's 312 will be his first NASCAR Nationwide Series race at the Talladega Superspeedway. “We feel that we’ll have a car good enough to finish in the top-10 Saturday afternoon but our main objective is to keep the car intact and keep the RAB Racing team solidly inside the top-30 in the owner’s standings," Sheltra explained. "Nonetheless, we want to go to Talladega and prove that this team can run up front and contend for wins.” MORE NASCAR NEWS
