Michael Annett piloted the No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota to the top of the first NASCAR Nationwide Series practice session at Talladega Superspeedway today. With a lap time of 49.497 seconds at 193.466 mph, Annett was quicker than Tony Raines in the No. 34 Long John Silver’s Chevrolet in 2nd place.
Justin Allgaier was 3rd quickest in the first practice session followed by Sprint Cup Series regulars Brad Keselowski and Clint Bowyer.
Cup driver and Nationwide team owner Kevin Harvick drove his No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet to a fast lap of 49.379 seconds at 193.929 mph in the second of the twin practice sessions this evening. Harvick’s fellow Cup regulars Kyle Busch, Keselowski and Bowyer ended up 2nd through 4th, respectively, followed by Allgaier in 5th. Raines hung in there for a 6th place finish in the 2nd session but Annett dropped down to 35th after his chart topping run in the first practice. The NASCAR Nationwide Series will qualify at 11:30 am ET tomorrow morning before running the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday at 2:30pm ET. MORE NASCAR NEWS
