After taking the checkers in last weekend's NASCAR Nationwide Series Aaron's 312 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, Brad Keselowski's No. 22 Dodge was discovered to have a potentially illegal left-front sprint and right-front shock absorber. The parts were confiscated by NASCAR and examined at the santioning body's R&D Center.
NASCAR issued penalties for Keselowski and his team Wednesday, a day later than expected. Keselowski received a 50-point deduction which reduces his series points lead from 60 to 10 over Kevin Harvick. Each of the two parts cost him 25 points.
Meanwhile, his car owner Jodi Geschickter was given a 50-point deduction in car owner points and crew chief Paul Wolfe received a $20,000 fine. Two other crew chiefs also received fines. Bobby Gerhart's crew chief Bob Schact was fined $7,500 for two infractions and Newt Moore, crew chief for Willie Allen, was fined $2,500 for having non-magnetic steel rear jacking bolts on the car. Both Schact and Moore's infractions were discovered during opening-day inspection. Gerhart finished 25th during the race while Allen did not qualify. MORE NASCAR NEWS
