Morgan Shepherd has always been active in his local community of Catawba County, North Carolina, respecting law enforcement officers and helping their efforts to keep the area safe.
Shepherd's No. 89 NASCAR Nationwide Series car will display a message supporting Catawba County, North Carolina sheriff candidate Coy Reid in Saturday's Tech Net 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“The department has done an outstanding job in our community and I want it to continue," said Shepherd. "I’m not speaking on anyone’s behalf but my own, but I feel that Coy Reid is the man for the job. I will be showing that support on my #89 Chevy Impala this weekend. I am exercising my right as a Catawba County resident and I want to encourage others to get out and vote for the person they feel is best for the job. It’s time for people to get involved in what is going on in their community. I think the best way to do that is to get out to your local voting polls. We need to exercise our right as Americans and to take seriously what our service men and women are fighting for…FREEDOM to be heard!” Reid has been with the Catawba County Sherriff's Department since 1977 and is the department's cheif executive officer.
