Carl Edwards Scores Road America Victory

carl-edwardsCarl Edwards drove away from the field in the closing laps of the Bucyrus 200 to win the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Road America Saturday afternoon.

 

Seasoned road course veteran Ron Fellows finished second followed by Brendan Gaughn, Brad Keselowski and Owen Kelly.

 

Jacques Villeneuve, who ran near the front for most of the day, suffered electrical problems with one lap remaining and finished 25th.

 

 

The 50-lap race was filled with mishaps, including a nine-car melee that brought out the red flag for 31 minutes while track workers cleared debris.

 

Edwards Nationwide victory at Road America is the first for Ford this season in a major NASCAR series.

 

The NASCAR Nationwide Series next stop is New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
