key-motorsportsKey Motorsports team owner Curtis Key announced July 4 that he is currently forming a second NASCAR Nationwide Series team that will compete in at least five events this season.

"We are in the process of putting a second team together that we plan to run in five to seven races this season," said Curtis Key. "This is not a start and park team we are taking to the track, our goal is to be competitive week in and week out."

The team has built several new cars recently, including a road course car that debuted at Road America June 26. Key Motorsports also took a new COT car to Daytona last weekend, earning a 19th-place finish in the Subway
Jalapeno 250.

"We are constantly looking at ways to strengthen our program and this is a step in that direction," continued Key. "We are focused on the future and once we have the proper personnel in place, it should be a positive overall for Key Motorsports."

Key's second team has been assigned number 46 by NASCAR, with no other details immediately available.

"We are talking with potential partners and drivers for car number 46 and hopefully will be able to release more details shortly," said Key.

The Key Motorsports team fields the No. 40 Chevrolet, driven primarily by Mike Bliss, in Nationwide Series competition. Jeff Green has made three starts for Key Motorsports in 2010; Talladega, Nashville and Kentucky. Mike Bliss is expected to drive in all but one of the remaining races on the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.
