Busch Snags Nationwide Win At Chicagoland

kyle-buschKyle Busch is now in second place on the NASCAR Nationwide Series' all-time win list after taking the checkered flag at Chicagoland Speedway in the Dollar General 300.

With a mixture of cheers and boos greeting him, Busch did his traditional bow and checkered flag retrieval after a crazy finish turned out well for the young, accomplished driver. Busch lost the lead to his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano with around 50-laps remaining. After some late race cautions that affected the fuel mileage for some drivers, including Brad Keselowski who ran out of fuel before the green-white-checkered finish, the two JGR drivers were dueling for the win.

The white flag flew just before a wreck occurred further back in the pack and sealed the deal for Busch who is solidly second in the series point standings.

Joey Logano, who finished an extremely close second, was clearly beside himself following the event as he stalked back to his trailer.

Rookie driver Brian Scott earned his career best finish of third.

Danica Patrick had a productive day but still struggled to stay on the lead lap and did not finish in the top-20.

"I definitely learned alot. It was nice to run a clean race with no accidents," she said after the event was over. "We just trucked along."

Next week the NASCAR Nationwide Series will stick around in the Midwest for the Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers 250 at Gateway International Raceway Saturday July 17th.
