NASCAR is expected to make a decision by mid-week on whether any penalties will be issued for the last lap incident involving Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski at Gateway International Raceway Saturday night.
Keselowski and Edwards took the white flag side-by-side with Keselowski punting Edwards up the track as the duo entered turn one. Edwards held track postion on the outside of Keselowski through turn four where the pair made contact that sent Keselowski into the front stretch wall. Edwards won the Nationwide Series event, Keselowski finished 14th. The two drivers have had their share of controversy over the past two seasons. Edwards took a wild ride on the final lap at Talladega last season while he and Keselowski were racing for the win. Keseolwski took a similar ride at Atlanta in March with Edwards serving a three-race probation handed down by NASCAR as a result of that accident. Both situations took place during Sprint Cup races. Many hardcore race fans believe that neither Edwards nor Keselowski should receive any penalties for the Gateway episode, considering NASCAR's stance this season to "have at it." MORE NASCAR NEWS
