As of late we have seen a growth of interest in NASCAR from the extreme sports world. When you hear about extreme sports, you think of Travis Pastrana and MetalMulisha leader Brian Deegan. Although some hardcore NASCAR fans might not know these two guys, you will be hearing more about them.
Just like motocross great Ricky Carmichael, who has made his mark in the Camping World Truck Series a couple years ago after he retired from two-wheel racing, Travis and Brian are making their way into our sport. Travis has teamed up with Michael Waltrip Racing to form Pastrana - Waltrip Racing. Travis has already made a good mark in his NASCAR debut by finishing sixth in this years’ running of the Toyota All Star Showdown. Both Travis and Brian will be bringing a whole different fan base to NASCAR. Travis and Brian are known for their motocross stunts, and both have raced in the rally car ranks. Only question I have is, how will they do against some of the best drivers in NASCAR? Names like Kevin "Happy" Harvick, Kyle "Rowdy" Busch, Cousin Carl Edwards, and the Champ Brad Keselowski just to name a few. We all can see that Ricky Carmichael is doing average in his ride, but that is not here nor there. Travis and Brian aren’t Ricky Carmichael. But I will say that Travis Pastrana is the type of guy driven by passion. You can see just by his show NitroCircus, that he believes, “If you can do it good, I can do it better." Just like when Danica made her entry into NASCAR, we will be watching Travis and Brian closely. This just proves that we are in for a good season. Now all we have to worry about is one of these two guys trying to figure out how to back flip one of these cars at the X-Games. Till Daytona everyone, keep an eye here for any new developments.
