Clint Bowyer put the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet on the pole for Saturday's DRIVE4COPD 300 in NASCAR Nationwide Series qualifying Friday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway. Bowyer made his qualifying run late in the 45-car session and turned a lap at 180.821 mph to edge Landon Cassill for the number one starting position.
"We're going to learn from the Nationwide race for the 500," said Bowyer, who starts sixth in the 2011 Daytona 500.
Cassill, driving the No. 1 Phoenix Racing Chevrolet owned by James Finch, lines up second after touring the 2.5-mile superspeedway at 180.600 mph.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr. qualified third with Danica Patrick fourth and Justin Allgaier fifth.
Joey Logano, Trevor Bayne, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. rounded out the top-10.
Brett Rowe and Jennifer Jo Cobb did not make the field for the DRIVE4COPD 300.
ESPN2 will broadcast live coverage of the DRIVE4COPD 300 Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm ET.
