Carl Edwards survived rain delays, a wild crash and two attempts at a green-white-checkered finish to win the 5-Hour Energy 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race that went into overtime at Dover International Speedway Saturday afternoon.

The day started with rain canceling Nationwide and Sprint Cup qualifying then delaying the start of the 200-lap event at "The Monster Mile."

Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Clint Bowyer traded the lead from the start with Edwards taking over for the first time on lap 44. Edwards would lead on three more occasions before Joey Logano got around him on lap 150. Edwards chased down Logano to retake the lead on lap 187.

The caution came out on lap 197 for Michael Annett and set the stage for a green-white-checkered finish. Edwards and Logano led the double-file restart on lap 203 with Edwards taking the lead.

The stalled machine of Eric McClure brought out the final caution almost immediately. The race restarted on lap 208 with Logano jumping out front when the green was displayed. Logano lost control of his No. 20 Toyota in turn four and made contact with the wall before collecting Clint Bowyer in a spectacular eight-car melee on the last lap.

Edwards, concerned he caused Logano to get loose, did not perform his signature back flip after the race.

“What a wild finish. I apologize for not doing the back flip there guys. I thought that I wrecked them and I didn’t want to be celebrating over that," said Edwards.

Kyle Busch finished second followed by Reed Sorenson, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and David Reutimann.
