Carl Edwards dominated Saturday night's Federated Auto Parts 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Nashville Superspeedway to collect his fifth win of the 2011 season. The victory is also Edwards’ fifth Nationwide win at the high-banked Tennessee track.
Suffering from symptoms of a summer cold throughout the 225-lap event, Edwards overcame a pit road speeding penalty in the first half to lead a race-high 124 laps.
"I feel a lot better," Edwards said in Victory Lane. "This car is unreal. It is super fast."
Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. followed his Roush teammate across the finish line for second.
"We've come a long way as a race team but nothing is better than winning," said Stenhouse.
Friday night's Truck Series winner Austin Dillon piloted the No. 33 KHI Chevrolet to a third-place finish with Justin Allgaier and Aric Almirola completing the top-five.
Polesitter Brad Keselowski led 89 laps before engine problems relegated him to a 12th-place finish.
Reed Sorenson leads the 2011 Nationwide point standings as the series heads to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis next weekend.
