Marcos Ambrose won Saturday's NAPA 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, his second victory this week. Ambrose also won Monday's rain-delayed Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen.
“Two in two weeks is just awesome,” said Ambrose. "We got lucky and made the most of it."
Ambrose started in the back and stayed out of trouble except for an incident with polesitter Jacques Villeneuve on lap 45 when Ambrose grabbed the lead from Villeneuve on a restart. Villeneuve left the racing surface and made contact with Ambrose as he rejoined the race. Ambrose retaliated, ending Villeneuve's chances of victory.
“A bit of a bonehead move,” said Ambrose. “I don’t know what he was thinking. He got along side of me in Turn 1, I held my line and he must of just lost it across the grass or something and ran into us.”
Canadian Alex Tagliani finished second followed by Michael McDowell, Steve Wallace and J.R. Fitzpatrick.
Scott Speed, Carl Edwards, Justin Allgaier, Jason Leffler and Elliott Sadler completed the top-10.
Danica Patrick had brake problems and finished 24th.
"All in all it was a good day I guess," Patrick said.
Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. holds the lead in the 2011 Nationwide Series championship standings with an eight point advantage over Elliott Sadler.
