Lasoski Makes It Two Firsts In Delaware
Friday, 15 May 2009 04:20

danny-lasoskiFormer World of Outlaws Sprint series champ Danny Lasoski took both his first win of the season and the maiden victory for his team's new JEI chassis on Tuesday night, May 12th, at Delaware International Speedway. The team debuted the new car at the April 25th race at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana and had seen it finish no lower than 6th in the subsequent races, culminating in a well-deserved victory in Delmar, Delaware. Lasoski, who sat on the pole by winning the Crane Cams dash, led   all 30 laps on the way to flag to flag victory.

“This was a long time coming,” said Lasoski. “I can't thank Lonnie Parsons enough. He is home in Des Moines (Iowa) and I wish he was here. I really appreciate Lonnie letting me drive this car. He knew that I was out of a job and he was looking for a driver. I'm really happy to put this car in Victory Lane. This is about the fourth or fifth night on this XP-1 chassis that Barry (Jackson) came up with and it's a little different than anything else. We haven't run out of the top-five with it yet and I am very excited about that. We're really getting the bar rolling now. Paul Kistler has also stepped it up and is doing a great job with our engines.”

steve-kinserIn 2nd place was 20-time champ Steve Kinser with his 15th top-10 of the season, which moved him back within a single point of championship leader Donny Schatz, who finished 11th. Although Schatz has five wins to Kinser's one, Kinser has been more consistent, finishing out of the top-10 only three times all season. The two appear locked in what is set to be an epic battle between the living legend Kinser and reigning kingpin Schatz.

Coming in 3rd and matching his best finish of the season was Jac Haudenschild, moving him up to the 8th spot in the series standings. “The car felt good all night,” said Haudenschild. “Leonard (Lee) had the car handling pretty good. The track turned out nice and it was a pretty racy track. They worked on it all night and got it pretty nice.”

Finishing 4th was Daryn Pittman, while Lucas Wolfe rounded at the top-5 in his first race at the track.
