greg-hodnettGreg Hodnett made it a memorable Friday evening by scoring his first World of Outlaws Sprint series win since 2004 in front of his home fans at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA. Hodnett, the 1993 Rookie of the Year, led a strong showing by the local Pennsylvania sprint drivers, to take his first win of any kind at the track since 2007. He was followed home by Cody Darrah, who out-dueled pole sitter Stevie Smith, who had led the first 21 laps, to settle the final two podium spots at the ½ mile track.

“It has been a long, long time since I won an Outlaws race,” said Hodnett. “Anytime you can win an Outlaws race is great and when you can win it in front of your home fans, it's even better. All the Pennsylvania guys did really well and we are proud of them. We are very fortunate to be standing up here.”

cody-darrahRounding out the top-5 were Dave Ely with his best ever finish in the World of Outlaws with a 4th, followed by series leader Donny Schatz in 5th, who started 23rd and charged through the field for a great result. Schatz extended his lead over Steve Kinser in the series point standings to 39 points after Kinser suffered mechanical issues and was classified 24th.

Unfortunately rains forced the cancellation of Thursday night’s events at the track. The series continues Friday night (5/22) from The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC.
