Many NASCAR drivers create their own racing organizations and field teams at various levels of the sport. Kasey Kahne started his own racing team, Kasey Kahne Racing (KKR), in 2007 and currently has three drivers in his stable.
Brad Sweet competes in the USAC Sprint & Midget Car Series while Craig Dollansky and Joey Saldana drive KKR rides in the World of Outlaws Series. In order to accommodate his growing stables, Kahne recently moved his organization to a new facility across the street from its previous location. According to Kahne, the six acre parcel of land where he built the new facility was previously owned by fellow NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch.
During construction, Kahne added his own design ideas to the building but also had a lot of help from his sister, his mother and his employees. “We put a lot of thought into it,” Kahne said of the facility design. “What I had a part of was what the building looked like… they (his sister, mother and other employees) have done the majority of the work inside the building.” “Excellent plan for a driver to stick to driving,” ESPN reporter Marty Smith joked of Kahne’s design ideas.
During the Grand Opening ceremony yesterday, Kahne was joined by Mooresville Mayor Bill Thunberg and his three drivers. The event consisted of a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside of the retail store area and a question and answer session hosted by Marty Smith. Hardcore Race Fans were treated to an autograph session following the ceremony in the garage area of the facility. MORE WORLD OF OUTLAWS NEWS
