jac-haudenschildRacing to a sixth place finish at I-96 Speedway, Jac Haudenschild did not leave the track with a trophy. However, the veteran driver went home to a much greater prize.

While racing on Saturday, Haudenschild was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa. Unable to attend the event, Haudenschild’s long-time friend and Hall of Fame inductee Kenny Jacobs was on hand to accept the honor for him.

“It means a lot to get in the Hall of Fame,” exclaimed Haudenschild. “I'm glad to be in there. I'm sorry we couldn't get out there for the induction. It's a great honor, that's for sure.”

Becoming the second driver to become inducted into the Hall of Fame while they were still driving since Steve Kinser did so, Haudenschild hopes to keep his career going for even longer.

Competing in a sprint car for the first time in 1974, Haudenschild has amassed an impressive resume in his 35 years behind the wheel. Collecting his first triumph in 1975, ‘The Wild Child’ went on rampage and has won in 30 different seasons since his start in the sport.

Collecting 51 A-Feature wins in his career, Haudenschild raced his way to the leader boards becoming one of only nine drivers to collect more than 50 victories in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

“It is pretty special to still be racing and be inducted at the same time,” stated Haudenschild. “We're glad to still be out here racing. We have a good ride here in the R19 car and hopefully we'll be out here racing for a while.”

Haudenschild concluded, “We're still going to keep running for a few more years. We don't have any plans on quitting any time soon.”
