WoO Prepared For Busy Weekend In North Dakota

donny-schatzThis weekend the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will feature three straight days of racing in North Dakota beginning Friday.

On Friday, the series will battle it out at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The drivers will then hit the road and travel about 74 miles to West Fargo, North Dakota to compete at Red River Valley Speedway on Saturday night. Following the action at Red River Valley, the Outlaws will travel approximately 223 miles to race at Nodak Speedway in Minot, North Dakota.

Heading into this weekend's action, North Dakota native Donny Schatz will have home field advantage. Winning last year's event at River Cities after inheriting the lead late in the race after Jason Meyers and Kerry Madsen traded paint opening a door for Schatz to take the front spot, the three-time series champion looks to collect his second consecutive win at the track and sweep the races in his home state.

"Grand Forks is a small track with high banking and a lot of excitement," said the current leader in the series point standings. "It's pretty intense at that place. We had a pretty good run there last year."

joey-saldanaCurrently second in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings, Joey Saldana ventures to the first race of the North Dakota swing with 10 A-Feature triumphs under his belt thus far in the 2009 season. Taking the trophy in the track's debut with the series in 2007 and following it up with a third place finish last year, Saldana is one of the favorites to take the checkered in Grand Forks.

Leading the series with 22 top-10 finishes this season, Steve Kinser has utilized consistency combined with one A-Feature victory to propel him to the third position in the points. In last season's event at River Cities Speedway the 20-time series champion was able to manage a ninth place finish.

Other drivers that always need an eye kept on are Jason Meyers (fourth in point standings) and Jason Sides (fifth in point standings).
