WoO Gold Rush Tour Begins August 19

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will begin the 2009 Gold Rush tour Wednesday, August 19 at Deer Creek Speedway in Minnesota. This year’s edition of the Gold Rush tour includes 12 nights of racing action at eight tracks in five states and one Canadian province over 25 days.

 

Highlighting the tour is the $50,000 to-win Gold Cup Raceway of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California and the $25,000 to-win finale at Skagit Speedway in Washington.

 

Deer Creek Speedway will host The Sprint for a Cure Summer Clash to kick off the Gold Rush tour. The popular Sprint Car Series will then appear at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday, August 21, Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, North Dakota Saturday, August 22 Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for the Oil City Cup on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29, Skagit Speedway in Washington Saturday, September 5, Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington Labor Day, Monday, September 7, Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon on Tuesday, September 8 and the 56th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in California will complete the Gold Rush Tour on September 10-12 with $50,000 awaiting the winner.

 

Jac Haudenschild scored the Gold Cup in 2008 while World of Outlaws veteran Steve Kinser leads all drivers with 12 wins in the Gold Cup Race of Champions.

 

Donny Schatz currently leads the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings with a 55-point lead over Jason Meyers. Joey Saldana is third, Steve Kinser fourth and Jason Sides fifth.
