Schatz, Saldana Among Finalists For SPEED Award

donny-schatzWorld of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers Donny Schatz and Joey Saldana are among the finalists for the 2009 SPEED Performer of the Year Award. Drivers from ten different series are vying for the honor which will be announced in February at the 4th Annual SPEED Performance Awards.

 

Donny made World of Outlaws history in 2009, winning his fourth consecutive championship, becoming only the second driver to make this accomplishment. Schatz also posted his 100th career A-Feature during the 2009 season, becoming the fifth driver in the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series to accomplish this feat.

Joey Saldana led the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in 2009 with 20 A-Main Feature wins, being only the fifth driver in over thirty years to score that many wins in a single season. Saldana finished third in the series point race, the closest championship battle in World of Outlaws history.

 

Nine “Fan chosen” SPEED Performance Awards are open for voting at www.speedperformanceawards.com through Dec. 20, with winners being announced on a one-hour television special in February.
